Oct 13/05: FWC'S VIFF RECEPTION...
First Weekend Club's VIFF reception on Oct 13th at Wilson's Steakhouse is mentioned in the Georgia Straight, Metro's style column, the Vancouver Courier and on CBC: The Early Edition. Hosts for the evening included: Amanda Tapping ("Stargate SG-1"), Terry David Mulligan ("Star!"), Carl Bessai ("Emile"), John Cassini ("Robson Arms"), Babz Chula ("The French Guy"), Ann Marie Fleming ("The French Guy"), Julia Kwan ("Eve & the Firehorse"), Scott Weber ("Desolation Sound") and many other personalities. Amongst the guests were a number of top filmmakers and actors. And, yes, even some lawyers!
Oct 7/05: FWC LAUNCHES DVD CLUB...
First Weekend Club launched the DVD CLUB with a special Q&A with Childstar director/actor/writer Don McKellar on Oct 7th. Members rented/bought the film in advance and then joined Don McKellar online live as answered questions posted on the forum throughout the day. Next Q&A is planned with Martin Short for Jimmy Glick in La la Wood.
Sept 26/05: LORD OF THE BRUSH CLOSES FANTASY FILM FESTIVAL...
Lord of the Brush was chosen as the closing film for the Fantasy Worldwide International Film Festival Nov 4-6. The filmmakers Gretchen Jordan-Bastow & Werner Aellen plan to make an appearance alongside legendary artist John Howe at the festival and closing gala on Nov 6. This will be the official launch of the Lord of the Brush DVD and John Howe will be on hand for signing. The fantastic documentary will also be appearing again on BRAVO Canada on November 20th, 8PM EST/5 PM Pacific.
Oct 5/05: HANNIBAL PREQUEL GETS RENAMED...
Director Peter Webber's ("Girl With a Pearl Earring") newest movie has been renamed Behind the Mask: Young Hannibal and will have Gespard Ulliel ("A Very Long Engagement") starring as Young Hannibal. The story revolves around the teenaged Hannibal Lechter when his parents are killed during WWII. The prequel is currently in pre-production in Prague.
