A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To My Sexual Orientation!

Detroit, Michigan – Writer Kage Alan makes his debut with the novel A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To My Sexual Orientation! The book is published by Unbound Books and allows readers to enter the world of 19-year-old Andy Stevenson, where life is ruled by Murphy’s Law and if something doesn’t seem like it can get any worse, it generally does.

1989: The adventure begins during the summer after Andy’s freshman year of college when he must accompany his grandmother on a six-day trip to California. Upon arrival, however, life becomes a series of comical faux pas with relatives who can’t remember his name, where women want to charge him $10 to put suntan lotion on their bodies and where a handsome young man kisses him at an anniversary party. It’s that kiss which sets off a chain reaction in Andy and forces him to reexamine what he thinks he knows, what society wants him to believe and why so many people are talking about his “assets”!

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To My Sexual Orientation! is not a novel that can simply be categorized as "gay" or "straight", but rather a crossover approach that won't alienate either audience. With this approach, Kage Alan hopes to foster a better understanding of gay issues and encourage communication between both communities. Anybody who has ever ridden the roller coaster of discovering their sexuality and dealing with their dysfunctional family life will find something to laugh about here.

Tentative Release Date: March 2003

About Kage Alan (author):

Kage Alan grew up in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan, the Motor City. After high school, he attended Grand Valley State University in Allendale, the really really quiet city, and graduated with a BA in Creative Writing and Film & Video. Since neither degree was worth much in the real world and poverty set in shortly thereafter, he turned to religion. Now a devout follower of Judyism, the official religion founded by comedienne Judy Tenuta, he and his husband share lodgings in Michigan and Illinois where they offer canned goods to the Goddess in return for regular blessings whenever she’s paid to be in town.

Kage is the author of a number of books, all of them unpublished because he hates the idea of being recognized and enjoys being poor. He also writes for ModaMag.com as well as other websites, mostly for the competitive salary, exclusive country club memberships, worldwide travel and other perks. His work has also been featured in a Life Journey Tele-Course, several national poetry anthologies and The Third Coast Magazine.
